Waterjet Cutting

Waterjet Cutting

MVS Metals has one of the largest waterjet tables in the country, and, with four heads, is unique in the Midwest. Our machine has speeds faster than standard tables and is capable of cutting pieces 16 feet wide by 40 feet long.

MVS Metals uses state-of-the-art waterjet equipment to cut any shape in a variety of materials. We work with all computer formats, line art, and technical drawings. Our process is cold; there is no HAZ (Heat Affected Zone), thermal distortion or change in material properties. Our table applies very little lateral force to the material, eliminating the need to clamp and allowing for stress-free cutting.

The benefits of waterjet cutting:
  • Cutting tolerances as close as +/-.005″
  • Burr-free parts
  • Low contact force of the cutting stream
  • High positional accuracies of +/-.003″
  • No heat affected zones (HAZ)
  • Cutting of almost any material
  • Small kerf width to allow tight nesting and optimal material usage
  • No distortion or warping of materials
Since abrasive waterjet cutting utilizes a high velocity, steady stream of water, it can be used to custom cut most materials, including:
  • Stainless Steel • Carbon Steel
  • Phenolic • Ceramic Tile
  • Acrylic • Titanium
  • Foams • Copper
  • Aluminum • Brass
  • Ceramics • Hastelloy
  • Armor Plate • Wood
  •  Marble •  Silicone
  •  Kevlar • Plastics
  •  Granite • Armor Plating
  •  Rubber • UHMW
  •  Glass • Laminates
