History
Owen Industries has been a part of American Midwest history for more than a century. Founded in 1885 as Paxton & Vierling Iron Works, we produced the majority of street lamps in Omaha, NE, as well as iron material for countless warehouse buildings. Paxton & Vierling diversified in the early 1900’s, processing structural steel for Omaha’s construction boom and component fabrication for the emerging railroad industry. And after WWII, began supplying steel products to the Midwest’s rising manufacturing and agricultural markets.

As the Midwest grew so did Owen Industries. We built production facilities at Missouri Valley Steel in Sioux City, IA, and Northern Plains Steel in Fargo, ND. We expanded into the Metals Service Center business, serving a six-state regional market. And in the 1990’s, we launched into technology based services, providing advanced processing, weldments and custom manufacturing to a variety of national and worldwide customers.
Now into the twenty-first century, Owen Industries continues to play a pivotal role in the Midwest’s landscape as one of the leading steel processors in North America.
